Is the solar circuit system separate from the domestic water heating system?
Yes. The Solar Home Energy system is a pressurised closed circuit system.

Why do we need Energy Performance Certificates?
Almost half of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions come from the energy we use at home and when we travel. Even the smallest improvements to the energy efficiency of our homes could result in a significant reduction in these emissions.

 |
Will the system still work in cold weather?
Yes. The Solar Home Energy system will work in much colder temperatures than we experience in this country.
|
 |
 |
Does the system only work on very sunny days?
No. Our collectors do not need direct sunlight. They work on natural daylight (diffused radiation).

 |
How are the CPC collectors fixed to the roof?
The collectors are fitted to the roof via stainless steel fixing brackets and bolted to the rafters. When fitting to a flat roof, an A-frame will be used.

How will solar help the environment?
A solar hot water system on a typical house saves in the region of half a tonne of CO2 emissions a year. If every one of the 20 million houses in the UK had a solar hot water system, then we would save around 10,000,000 tonnes of CO2 each year in the UK.

Will the System run my Central Heating?
Unlike central heating, hot water is a year round requirement - you will find that the majority of your energy requirements are used to supply hot water. Central Heating is generally required during the winter months and at times when there is little or no daylight although there are alternatives.

Do buyers care how energy efficient my home is?
Yes. The energy saving trust claims their research proves that buyers will pay up to £10,000 more for an environmentally friendly house - and that 70% of all buyers consider energy efficiency to be of high important when buying a home.
